New Patients

Ideally, you should visit the dentist every six months for regular checkups and cleanings. These visits allow your hygienist to clean your teeth, check for cavities and other signs of trouble, and evaluate the health of your teeth and gums. If you’re prone to oral health issues like gingivitis, you may need to go more often to keep your gums clean and healthy.

  • Brushing your teeth twice a day for two minutes each session is a good start to preventing gum disease. Be sure to brush gently along the outer and inner surfaces of your teeth as well as along the gum line.
  • Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and toothpaste that contains fluoride to strengthen your enamel against plaque buildup. If you have difficulty accessing your back teeth with your toothbrush, consider an interdental cleaner to clean beneath the gum line.
  • Floss at least once a day to remove plaque from between your teeth and along the gum line.
  • Drinking plenty of water each day is also essential for good oral health, especially when you’re fighting gum disease. Water flushes harmful bacteria from your mouth and prevents dry mouth.

A general dentist focuses on preventive care, including cleanings, exams, and x-rays. They can also provide instructions on how to properly care for your teeth and gums at home. They can also diagnose and treat common oral health issues such as cavities or gum disease, as well as provide cosmetic dentistry procedures like teeth whitening, veneers, bonding, etc.

Every member of your family deserves to receive quality dental care. Whether it’s your six-month checkup or your child’s first visit, both you and your loved one will feel more at ease if you’re seeing the same dentist on a regular basis. Your dentist will become familiar with your dental needs and be able to help you better prevent common oral concerns such as cavities and gum disease. When you and your family see the same dentist, you can feel more comfortable that your oral health needs are being met.

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends the first checkup should occur when the first tooth erupts or no later than the child’s first birthday. The early oral examination aids in the detection of the early stages of tooth decay, as well as providing parents with the knowledge to properly care for their child’s teeth at home.

During the initial appointment, the dentist will check your child’s bite and look for any potential issues, including misalignments, crowding, extra teeth, and harmful habits such as thumb sucking. We will also answer any questions you have and offer recommendations based on your child’s unique oral health needs.

In order to maintain the results, you should continue to take care of your teeth by brushing them daily and flossing regularly. Avoiding smoking or drinking red wine, tea, coffee, soda, or dark juices will also help maintain the whiteness of your smile. Finally, be sure to visit our office every six months for a cleaning and exam. Dr. Amin Taba will monitor the condition of your teeth and gums to ensure everything is healthy, and they will recommend touch-up treatments to keep your teeth as white as possible.

While dental crowns are typically used to restore missing or damaged teeth and to protect an exposed tooth root following a root canal, there are several other uses for a crown as well. Some teeth are too badly decayed for a filling to be an option, but they can be restored using a dental crown. Additionally, if you have had a dental implant placed, the crown that is placed on top of the implant will serve as the tooth replacement itself. Another common use is to attach a bridge, which is a replacement of one or more missing teeth in a row.

Dental implants are actually made of titanium, which is safe for the body and won’t cause any harmful side effects. But in order for this to work, patients must have healthy gums and enough bone structure to support the implant. If not, the implant might not fuse with the body correctly or could fail altogether.

Patients should make sure their teeth, gums, and jawbones are healthy before undergoing an implant procedure to ensure the success of their treatment. Otherwise, they might have to undergo a bone graft procedure before getting their implants placed.

Many patients are concerned about how painful their procedure will be, but the pain experienced varies from person to person. During your consultation, your dentist will discuss your options with regard to anesthesia and sedation to ensure you’re relaxed throughout your visit. If you’re anxious about the procedure, you can also discuss which methods will work best to reduce pain and anxiety.

There are many reasons you may need a dental filling. The two most common reasons are tooth decay or a cracked tooth. During your biannual exams and cleanings at the dentist’s office, your dentist will check for signs of both tooth decay and a cracked tooth. If the examination reveals any signs of either, a filling may be required to restore your tooth to its proper form and function.
